Lullaby

If you are afraid of something or you are not sure
but you want to go further
do not worry, do not be afraid,
I am here, I am watching and listening to you.
To open the door, you need the warm eyes
of each other and the courage for your body.

Diario de Ávila newspaper interview to Hisako Horikawa

What have you found in Hoyocasero that there is not in somewhere else? And how did you get to know Hoyocasero?

I heard about Hoyocasero from Maria Serna who is organized the workshop 3 years ago. Since I came to Madrid for the workshop, I would like to do the workshop in the nature. So she met Carlos to know Hoyocasero and she went there. So anyway we say we try to do that.
Then we went there for the workshop 3 years ago, it was so beautiful stone mountain we all are attracted by that. And also village was so beautiful, we can see the old life.
In Japan I was also living and farming for 13 years in the small village. There I learn a lot from the nature there and from the village people.
And this is alive for the dance still.
It is important to feel the nature and life for the dance.

How did the village people received you?

I do not know exactly how people feel our way. But something I feel they are also enjoy to see us in the village, I hope.
But for example last year people came to us to invited to eat. Also we enjoy with them in a bar together to talk.

Do you think the people know their bodies? Do they live in harmony with their bodies? Do they know their possibilities?

The body is also one of nature, body is also like the weather, everyday change. So everybody has this body. The body itself is alive and organizing by themselves. We listen this body how we can go.
We have to accept the body and we will think, start from the body.
I want to understand something with my body, not just with my brain.

What is Body Weather?

Everybody has a body, but we still do not know many things about the body. But the life in the village old way of life is naturally people know something about the body, I believe.
They know the nature, they had many sensations with nature with their body, more than city people.
That is very important to think about future for our life. We sould really go back or take again real nature with our life to use the body.

How would you define your dance?

My dance is improvised with the space.
I got some thing inspiration from the space or place, then I will think about how I can dance together in there and also with people.

Is your dance different depending on the place you dance?

Of course it is all different depend on the place, costume and music too.
But big theme will be the same, we are always in between something. We are a part of nature, part of world.
We are alive here.

What sensations do you have when you dance in Hoyocasero?

Through the stone and through the leaves, through the road, through the sky, through the mountain I can feel the memory of the people life.
Not only in Hoyocasero, like our common life memory fron the old days.

Can you explain a little bit about your performance this year?

Last year I danced solo, because I wanted to say thanks for the village people how we can work there beautiful.
Through the performance I feel people in Hoyocasero more close to me. People's feeling came into my body.
So after the performance I feel that I should do something together with workshop members, so then the workshop members and village people will be good meeting together more.
Maybe strange movement will happen, and sometimes not so understandable, but it is all right, please just feel it. Then you can enjoy something.
We are all standing under the sky on the earth.
